On March 11th 2006 we threw a surprise birthday party for Jason since it was his 30th birthday. Cherie and I had planned for Jason and I to go out for the day while she and Angie came over to our house and set the party up. We told Jason that later that night we would be going over to Cherie's house for Chicken Parmigan. I was 6 months pregnant so I wasn't doing any work around the house - but the house was a mess and I knew that Jason would not want all of his family and friends to come over to a messy house. So I had to figure out a way to clean the house without him becoming suspicious. We had just gotten this new vaccuum with a see through container - so I acted all excited about seeing how much stuff I could suck up in the vaccuum. He told me not to because I would hurt myself - so I just had to act all the more excited about the vaccuum! The next day we went to the Mall of America - I offered to go Maple Tree Tapping for sap but he didn't want to do that. Jason wanted to keep leaving the mall, but people weren't showing up at our house until 4pm so I had to stall him. The more I stalled him the crankier he got. So I told him that I needed to get something to eat before we left. Being pregnant, I could play this off - I needed to eat NOW!!! Finally it was time to go, and Jason decided that instead of going home he would like to just go over to his mom's house and relax. So I called Cherie and we set up a plan where we would HAVE to stop by our house to get a book I had for her. She was taking a class at Capella University then so we said that she had to write a paper that was due the next day and she needed the book - and that is how I got him to go home. Luckily he pulled into the alley rather than the front or we would have been found out! When we went to the back door I saw a bag by where our garbage cans are that Cherie had left there while she was setting everything up and thought 'oh no' - he's going to know! But he didn't, and he was surprised! I didn't get to see his face since I was behind him, but I hear it was priceless. Our house was packed with people and it turned out to be a great time. Once most of the people left we pulled out Scattegories, which was one of Jason's presents.
Those who were there that I can remember - Cheire, Dan, Abbie, Angie, Dylan, Alyssa, The Parsons, The Avens, The Schumanns, Beth (and her husband) and Joy from Chrestomathy, Josh Wallace, my dad and Angela and Nicole, Lee Bourgerie and Celia, Jared and Cami Barnhart, Collette Bourgerie, Larry and Susan Bourgerie, Jason's cousin ____ and her daughter, Dawn and Ryan Sailer,
